Best White Gaming Mechanical Keyboards to Buy in 2020

As a gamer, one of the most important pieces of hardware you should have is a good gaming keyboard. You want to make sure that your key strokes are precise and responsive, which is why having a mechanical keyboard is so important.

At the same time, you also want your keyboard and the rest of your gaming gear to be visually appealing. And there’s almost nothing more aesthetic than a white keyboard with RGB backlighting.

We’ll be going over some of the best white gaming keyboards to help you decide which one is best for you. Factors that went into consideration include price, quality, key switches, and customization.

Note that this article looks at just full-sized keyboards with 100+ keys.

Best White Gaming Keyboards

Razer BlackWidow X Chroma

razer blackwidow x chroma white

Starting this list of best white gaming keyboards is the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma. Razer produces some of the highest quality gaming gear on the market today, and this white RGB keyboard is no exception.

Unlike most keyboards that are plastic, this one is built with a heavy, sturdy metal frame. It won’t move on you while you’re gaming, and will certainly stand the test of time.

The keys are robust and have an awesome clicky sound. The RGBs are incredible and simply a delight to look at. Cables are well managed through trenches underneath the keyboard, keeping your desk clean.

The BlackWidow keyboard is also one of the most widely used keyboards among pro gamers in e-sports. Examples of some players who use this keyboard include:

Razer’s mechanical switches are proven to be one of the best in terms of responsiveness and feel, giving you that slight edge against the competition that is so important when gaming. The keys have a lifespan of 80 million strokes, so you’ll likely never have to buy another keyboard again.

The only thing that would make the Razer BlackWidow even better is if it had a wrist pad. But that would simply be a bonus to a keyboard that’s already stacked with every feature you’d want.

Corsair K70 RGB MK2

corsair k70 rgb mk2 white

The Corsair K70 MK2 is another top tier mechanical keyboard that looks amazing in white. It’s often compared to the Razer BlackWidow as it’s very popular in the e-sports scene.

This keyboard has a low profile and is built with a silver aluminum base, which gives off a beautiful RGB reflection underneath the keys.

The Corsair K70’s primary feature is the Cherry switches that are industry-standard in the gaming world. They feel amazing to the touch thanks to low activation force and no tactile bump. Additional key caps and a pull tool come included if you prefer using textured WASD key caps.

As for whether you should get the BlackWidow or the K70, you honestly can’t go wrong with either.

  • The BlackWidow is leaner and takes up less desk space.
  • The K70 uses Cherry MX switches, while the BlackWidow uses Razer switches – most gamers will probably prefer the Cherry switches but it depends on preference
  • For RGB lighting, both are beautiful, but the K70 offers slightly more customization options.
  • If you prefer having a wrist rest, the K70 offers that.

Razer Huntsman

razer huntsman white

The Razer Huntsman is another excellent white gaming keyboard from Razer.

Compared to the Razer BlackWidow, the Huntsman’s keys are noticeably lighter thanks to its new Opto-Mechanical Switch. Pressing a key down takes a little less force, which can be noticeable when you’re playing something like a first-person shooter or MOBA game.

The new actuation technology is also more sensitive to more keypresses within a shorter duration, which is especially important if you need to repeatedly tap keys and have them register.

The Huntsman does lack a few features that you may or may not care about though. There aren’t any macro keys or USB passthrough ports. While it still has the same beautiful Chroma RGB lighting, it’s not quite as bright as the BlackWidow.

That said, the keyboard does come with 4 media buttons and a moveable dial, which is an amazing feature for seamlessly controlling Spotify while you’re gaming without having to alt-tab.

The Elite Huntsman version of the keyboard comes with an armrest, but is only available in black.

ROCCAT Vulcan 122

roccat vulcan 122 white

If you’re looking to stand out a bit amongst the crowd of folks who own Corsair or Razer mechanical keyboards, but still want the premium quality of those leading brands, give the ROCCAT Vulcan 122 keyboard a try.

This keyboard is ultra-low profile, has flat keys, and has Titan Switches that respond instantly and provide that crisp mechanical feel. The flat keys are unique, but you’ll likely find yourself in love with them after getting used to their feel.

The Vulcan uses brown switches, which are much quieter than Cherry MX Blues, yet keep that same tactile feeling that makes typing and gaming enjoyable.

One of the best things about the Vulcan 122 is that it comes with a removable ergonomic wristpad, something that many white mechanical keyboards lack. The overall build quality of the keyboard is very durable, thanks to the sturdy aluminum top.

Finally, the Vulcan 122 looks absolutely gorgeous in white. Its RGB system is powered by the AIMO intelligent lighting system that displays bright, vivid colors with long-life LEDs.

I’d absolutely recommend these to anyone looking for a quality mechanical keyboard in white.

Redragon K550

redragon k550 white

The Redragon K550 is a great option if you’re looking for a white gaming keyboard under $100. It’s got all the features of the more expensive options, like RGB lighting, a detachable wrist rest, sturdy frame, mechanical keys, macros, and more.

Redragon uses their own custom Outemu key instead of Cherry MX that does a great job. The keys are quiet, equivalent to Cherry Browns, so they’re great if you’re not a fan of the loud clacking sound.

Thanks to its solid metal construction and thick cables, the K550 is well built and is guaranteed to last a long time.

For folks who don’t like having to install third party software or register accounts, the Redragon K550 doesn’t require any additional software to get up and running.

That said, you can still easily set macros with the Rec button. The multimedia buttons and volume wheel are also a great addition to the keyboard.

E-Element-Z88-LED-Backlight

If you want a more clicky mechanical keyboard while spending less than $50, the E-Element Z-88 should be right up your alley.

Unlike many gaming keyboards, the Z-88 keyboard retains the exact layout of traditional membrane keyboards. There are no additional buttons or switches, and the distance between keys are the same as well. If you’re not a fan of having to get used to new keyboard layouts all the time, this is great news for you.

The defining feature of this keyboard is how clicky it is. For some people, that’s a big turn off. For others, particularly those who want to know they’ve tapped a key while they’re gaming, it’s perfect.

The Z-88 is built with a firm plastic deck and a shiny chrome metal trim around the outside. Each key has its own LED and the keyboard provides a uniquely pleasant glow.

Overall there’s a lot this keyboard does well, especially for the price you’re paying for it.

This keyboard comes with a beautiful blue backlight that looks amazing in the dark. The keycaps’ font looks futuristic, giving it a unique look. The metal keyboard frame gives a very premium feel and weight to the build.

Like the E-Element Z-88 keyboard, this one’s keys are also quite loud and clicky. The keys are sturdy and feel pretty much the same as more expensive brands. They have that tactile feel to them and good actuation, making them feel light to the touch.

At just $40, the EagleTec KG051 is an excellent starter mechanical keyboard.

Rii RK100+

rii rk100 white

If you’re really looking for a budget white keyboard, the Rii RK100 is perfect. It’s not an actual mechanical keyboard, but mechanical-feeling. At under $20, it has nearly all of the same features at just a fraction of the cost.

Let’s discuss some of the shortfalls of this keyboard to explain why it’s so cheap.

The keys aren’t as light as the more premium models – there is a bit of a grit feeling, but it’s so subtle that it should be a non-issue for most people.

You also the run of risk of longevity. Some of the coloring on the keys can wear away over time. One user complained the lights got stuck in pulsating mode after about half a year.

So just be wary that what you save on cost might come back to bite you in the long run.

How to Keep Your White Keyboard Clean

White mechanical keyboards look amazing, but one of the difficulties involved with owning them is the keys can easily get dirty and turn yellow due to all the oils from your hands.

As a result, you’ll want to make sure you regularly clean your white keyboard to keep it looking pristine.

The easiest way to clean your keyboard is to use a mildly damp microfiber cloth to wipe the entire keyboard. You can put a tiny bit of vinegar on the cloth as well to help disinfect it. Just make sure you don’t get any liquid into the keyboard, as that can ruin it.

Afterwards, simply dry the keyboard using another cloth. Follow this routine at least once a week and your white keyboard will remain white as new!
